Stainer: 'The Crucifixion'
Our main work for 2013 was the moving Easter work, John Stainer's "Crucifixion"
This was performed in March as part of the Holy Week offerings at the Nelson Cathedral, under the Direction of Alan Gray.
This work explores the agonies of Christ and the relationship to Man at the time of the Crucifixion. It has places for audience participation as it is interspersed with several (now well known) hymns.
The performance was very well received. Alan Gray's sensitive direction and innovative ceremony arrangement added greatly to the performance.
