From the committee before departure
Dear Choir members
A contingent of 27 singers and 5 non-singing supporters (VIPs) will contribute to the concert in the New York Carnegie Hall on 15 January.
We have been practising and rehearsing very much since the beginning of December and are now all pretty confident to sing the right notes and words (in EIGHT languages!) at the right time without using our scores(a requirement for the New York concert).
A big thank you to Chris who gave a lot of his holiday time rehearsing us and to Miyuki, who accompanied us and made practice tapes that proved immensely useful. We will certainly use those again when preparing for our New Zealand premiere in October.
Martin Fastier (Noelene’s son; our photographer and blogger) will make sure that the home base is updated via postings to Colin Davies who will keep Facebook and our web site updated from Singapore.
If you want to say bon voyage and good luck, here are travel details:
Most of the group (a few are already in the States and a few will join us in Auckland) will leave Nelson on Wednesday 11 January at 10:20 AM.
We will return on Wednesday 18 January at 9:55 PM (probably exhausted after a 34 hour flight from New York via LA and Sydney!).
We can’t wait to tell you all about our exciting trip, representing New Zealand in this prestigious event!
The New York committee,
Ann Briggs, Judi Davies, Wim Oosterhoff
