Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s indisputable genius is highlighted in this All-Mozart programme performed by the combined and augmented forces of the Nelson Civic Choir and Orchestra under the musical directorship of Jason Balla and featuring music from Mozart’s world of opera, solemn masses, and piano concertos. From rascals to royalty, there is something for everyone to enjoy!
The programme features music from ‘Die Zauberflöte’ (The Magic Flute), the piano concerto No. 26 in D Major the ‘Coronation’ featuring local pianist Louis Lucas-Perry, and the sublime ‘Coronation’ Mass in C, as well as the very moving and spiritual ‘Ave Verum Corpus’ for choir and string orchestra.
With more than 100 singers and instrumentalists on stage forming the ever-expanding Nelson Civic Choir and Orchestra, music director Jason Balla brings a wealth of knowledge and experience from his years in London performing with the Academy of St. Martin-in-the-Fields to Nelson, and shares with us his interpretation and his passion for the music of Mozart.
